Later, as business demands grew, and increasing weather capabilities were required, the Lance was replaced by a twin-engine variant, the Piper Seneca I. This was a major leap in the business because it allowed for increased efficiency in response time and safety concerns. Lifeguard’s new home became Meacham International Airport, based in Fort Worth, Texas. In the Spring of 1994, our new offices were completed to include our new maintenance facility, crew room, dispatch area, and training room. As flights increased and the response area grew to cover the continental United States, the Seneca I was retired in favor of the turbo-charged Seneca II allowing better performance at higher elevations. With the variety of patients, and flight profiles, a pressurized Cessna 414 was added to the family.
